چکیده

We study avalanches of spike activity in fully connected networks of integrate-andre neurons which receive purely random input. In contrast to the self-organized critical avalanche behavior in sandpile models, critical and non-critical behavior is found depending on the interaction strength. Avalanche behavior can be readily understood by using combinatorial arguments in phase space.

Finite-size effects of avalanche dynamics.

We study the avalanche dynamics of a system of globally coupled threshold elements receiving random input. The model belongs to the same universality class as the random-neighbor version of the Olami-Feder-Christensen stick-slip model. A closed expression for avalanche size distributions is derived for arbitrary system sizes N using geometrical arguments in the system's configuration space. For...

APPLICATIONS OF PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS IN STABILITY INDEX AND CRITICAL LENGTH IN AVALANCHE DYNAMICS

In this study, Stability analysis of snow slab which is under detonation has developed in the present model. The model has been studied by using the basic concepts of non-detonation model and concepts of underwater explosions with appropriate modifications to the present studies. The studies have also been extended to account the effect of critical length variations at the time of detonation an...

Role of STDP in regulation of neural timing networks in human: a simulation study

Many physiological events require an accurate timing signal, usually generated by neural networks called central pattern generators (CPGs). On the other hand, properties of neurons and neural networks (e.g. time constants of neurons and weights of network connections) alter with time, resulting in gradual changes in timing of such networks. Recently, a synaptic weight adjustment mechanism has b...

Self-organized criticality of a simplified integrate-and-fire neural model on random and small-world network

We consider the criticality for firing structures of a simplified integrate-and-fire neural model on the regular network, small-world network, and random networks. We simplify an integrate-and-fire model suggested by Levina, Herrmann and Geisel (LHG). In our model we set up the synaptic strength as a constant value. We observed the power law behaviors of the probability distribution of the aval...
